PINE MOUNTAIN LAKE

Pine Mountain Lake is a private gated community, situated 1 mile Northeast of Groveland, Ca, and 26 miles from the west gate to Yosemite National Park.

The lake is a man made private lake for recreation use of the property owners and their guests only.  It is spring fed and maintains level from run off of Big Creek.  The lake level has never dipped lower than 5 feet, even in years of low rain fall.  It has 210 acres of surface water and 6 miles of shoreline, most of which is occupied by lakefront homes.

Pine Mountain Lake is a popular summer vacation destination with the lake itself being a primary draw.  Lake activities available include water skiing, sailing, boating, swimming and fishing.  There are three sandy swim beaches, a boat launch marina, and a fisherman's park/picnic area.  Pine Mountain Lake Association stocks the lake with trout, and there is also a healthy population of largemouth bass, crappie, bluegill, red ear perch, and catfish.  Kayaks, rowboats, sailboats, paddle boats, and fishing boats can be rented at the Marina Store, and The Marina Grill is open daily from May through September.

Pine Mountain Lake offers an equestrian center, beautifully maintained tennis courts, a heated swimming pool, a premiere 18 hole championship golf course (http://homesinpinemountainlake.com/courseguide.asp), Country Club Restaurant and Lounge (http://homesinpinemountainlake.com/dining.asp), an airport (http://www.airnav.com/airport/E45), campsites, hiking trails, and full time security patrol.

Elevation of Pine Mountain Lake Community ranges from 2600-3100, putting it above the smog and below the snow line.  Daytime temps range from the 30's to 60's in winter and 80's to 90's in the summer; and it is always cool at night.  It gets a light dusting of snow from time to time, which is typically gone within 1 or 2 days.

Wildlife in the area includes Deer, Mountain Lion, Black Bear, Bobcat, Fox, Gray Squirrel, Raccoon, Skunk, Possum, and numerous species of birds, including bald eagles.

The Pine Mountain Lake Subdivision was developed by Boise Cascade in the late 1960s with about 4,000 home sites averaging about one third of an acre each.  Most lots in the Pine Mountain Lake are developed.  Housing ranges from log cabins and A-frames, to grand stately homes, most surrounded by Pines, Cedar, Oak and Manzanita.  There are 1 to 2 acre “horse” lots near the equestrian center, taxiway lots near the airport, and of course, the lakefront lots.  Some homes are rented as seasonal resort homes.

The community comprises a combination of year round residents and seasonal residents, retired folks and families, young and old.  The community is always warm and friendly, and folks are always quick with a wave and a hello.

Organized groups, clubs and classes are numerous in Pine Mountain Lake and include the Aviation Association, Computer Users Group, Country Mountain Riders, Craft Guild, Dance Party, Exercise Group, Friends of the Lake, Garden Club, Guardians of PML, Ladies Club, Ladies Golf Club, Men’s Golf Club, Men’s 9-Hole Golf Club, Sunday Couples Golf, Line Dance, Non-Residents Group, PML Niners, Duplicate Bridge, Marathon Bridge, Monday Bridge Club (Men), Monday Bridge Club (Women), PML Cooking Demonstration Classes, PML Water ski & Wake board Club, PML RV Club, Poison Oakers Square Dance Club, Racquet Club, Resident’s Club, ROOFBB, Sierra Professional Artists,  Windjammers Sailing Club and The Pine Needlers Quilt Guild.
